Since April 2012, progress has been made with the establishment of country level governance for the use of REDD+ SES and capacity building workshops and meetings with key stakeholders.

Capacity Building
A national capacity building workshop was hold in Antigua in July 2012 in which participated representatives of the government, social and environmental NGOS, Indigenous Peoples, private sector, women and academia. The workshop provided an opportunity for raising awareness about the REDD+ Strategy, safeguards and REDD+ SES and a proposal for establishing the National Social and environmental Safeguards Commission was presented and discussed by the participants.
The Social and Environmental Safeguards Commission is currently revising the work plan for the development and implementation of safeguards.
